In a significant administrative move, senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Anand Swaroop has been appointed as the Director General (Investigation) of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). A 1992 batch IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Swaroop brings decades of law enforcement experience to the commission’s investigative wing.
His appointment is expected to strengthen the NHRC’s mandate to uphold and protect human rights across the country, especially in sensitive cases requiring independent and thorough investigation.
