With the retirement of Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal scheduled for December 31, the Union Territory of Ladakh is poised for a significant administrative transition. According to reliable sources, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has been granted full authority to select the next Chief Secretary of Ladakh, and he is expected to choose a candidate from the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir cadre.
LG Gupta, who was sworn into office in July by Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, is the third Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. His decision is anticipated to shape the future governance and developmental trajectory of the Union Territory as it continues to evolve post its separation from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
This move is seen as a strategic step in maintaining administrative continuity and strengthening regional governance with experienced leadership.
