Revanth Reddy Warns Andhra Over Water Projects, Vows to Defend Telangana’s Irrigation Rights

In a powerful message on Saturday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to allow Telangana’s vital irrigation projects to proceed without obstruction. At the same time, he issued a stern warning that any continued interference could lead to confrontation between the two states.

Revanth Reddy emphasized the critical importance of several long-pending projects, including the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, Dindi, Kalwakurthy, Bheema, Nettempadu, and Koilsagar. These initiatives, he said, are essential for Telangana’s development and agricultural sustainability.

“Let us live in peace,” Reddy appealed, stressing the need for cooperation rather than conflict.

However, the Telangana Chief Minister cautioned that any further hindrance—especially through the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project, which allegedly diverts 3 TMCs of water daily from the Krishna River—would compel Telangana to defend its rightful share of water. He accused Andhra Pradesh of compromising Telangana’s water security by continuing with the controversial project.

Revanth Reddy also invoked political history, reminding that many of the irrigation projects under dispute were sanctioned during Naidu’s own tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

“How can he justify blocking the very same projects that were initiated during his own leadership?” Reddy asked, urging Naidu to demonstrate statesmanship by supporting the completion of these stalled developments.

Turning inward, the Telangana CM also criticized former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for allegedly neglecting projects in the Palamuru region. Reddy accused KCR of funneling resources into the now-defunct Kaleshwaram project while ignoring more crucial irrigation schemes in southern Telangana.

Reaffirming his leadership and vision, Reddy declared he would remain Telangana’s Chief Minister until 2034. He also highlighted key achievements under his administration, including the recruitment of 60,000 government jobs within the first year and the successful attraction of foreign investments through international tours.

In closing, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stood firm on his commitment to Telangana’s water rights and development:
“We are ready to fight if needed—but we prefer peace. Let the water flow where it is due.”
